Those bindings are arguably overbuilt for dedicated touring, but will be less of a compromise when you travel, ski lifts and huck yourself in and out of bounds. It sounds like you should be looking at Shifts or Tectons, or again, Ions. Hah - at 2.5 x the weight, that's quite the bullet and a totally different category of binding. I think they would pair well with the Mythics for touring, but if your setup will pull double duty with resort use, I'd personally still consider Ions. At their weight and reasonable production cost, I'm not expecting them to last forever, but looking forward to seeing how many seasons I can get out of them. I'll fully recommend them if they hold up through the rest of the spring - and inspecting them regularly, there's nothing that says they shouldn't. I've only had one release in a crash and it came off when it should have. I've landed flat off of a big drop and taken some harsh transitions and they've handled everything. They have a solid connected feel, to the point that I don't really think about them. I have them on a setup that's only used for touring (RS2s and Seekr 110s) but I've pushed them pretty hard with steep variable snow and some decent airs. Uphill performance is predictably great with two caveats: the low overall height of the heel means that the riser heights are lower than comparable bindings, so I end up on the 2nd riser more than I would otherwise, and on the 1st riser, I sometimes feel the heel tower moving back on it's travel with each step - that's annoying, but not too bad and it's only felt infrequently, so I'm thinking it might be on certain angles or when there's ice/snow on the boot sole where it's contacting the riser.Äownhill performance has exceeded my expectations. icing, prerelease, unintended mode switching, etc. They're simple and lightweight, but fully featured with the plus of having a low stack height and ramp angle. Based on my experience so far - ~20 days of touring in all conditions in the PNW - I really like the ZEDs.
